Scottish SPCA urges animal lovers to donate supplies to Dumbarton rescue centre

The Scottish SPCA is appealing to animal lovers to donate supplies to its Milton rescue and rehoming centre.

With all nine of the charity’s rehoming centres remaining closed to the public they are running low on much needed essential items for the animals in their care, with a higher than usual number of animals living at SSPCA centres.

Last week it was revealed that the Scottish SPCA had attended 699 animal welfare calls in West Dunbartonshire in the six months to June.

And with rehoming only beginning to restart the charity have found their resources pressed as they continue to look after animals in need.

A full list of what the centre near Dumbarton is in need of can be found on their Amazon wish list. Items do not need to be purchased directly from Amazon however and donations can be purchased elsewhere and brought directly to the centre.

Centre assistant manager Kim Mackrell said: “Our team have continued to be there for Scotland’s animals over lockdown and provide them with the care they need.

“We know that times are uncertain but we are asking that people don’t forget the animals.

“To continue to provide the animals at our centre with the best possible care, we need your support.

“We would greatly appreciate donations of any of the items listed on our Amazon wishlist.

“Items purchased through Amazon can be sent directly to our centre, but they can also be bought elsewhere and dropped off to us.

“We understand that times are difficult just now but we, and the animals, would appreciate anything that people can spare.”

You can view the centre’s wishlist, which includes blankets, bedding and other items via www.scottishspca.org/amazon-wishlist.
