Scottish SPCA hunt for owner that dumped ten-week-old kitten in Edinburgh garden

An appeal has been launched after a ten-week-old kitten was found dumped in garden in Edinburgh.

A member of public discovered the kitten in a carrier in a communal garden on Oxgangs Avenue.

The Scottish SPCA were called in to rescue the kitten early on Monday morning (17 August).

They say it is not thought to be injured and is thought to be in good health.

SSPCA inspectors are now appealing for information from anyone that recognises the kitten in a bid to track down the owner.

Scottish SPCA inspector Fiona Thorburn said, “We are looking to trace the owner of this animal.

“The kitten is around 10-weeks-old and was found in a cat carrier in a communal area beside some bins. She has no visible signs of illness or injury.

“The kitten is now in the care of one of our animal rescue centres and she appears to be in good health.

“The cat carrier was partially open so we’re unsure whether a good Samaritan gave the carrier to the kitten as shelter, or if the animal was left with the carrier.

“We are keen to trace the owner and if anyone i the area recognises this kitten, we would ask they call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
