Scottish software testing company wins £20m government contract

A Scottish software testing company has landed a £20m contract to help the Scottish Government deliver social security in Scotland.

Edinburgh-headquartered 2i will take on responsibility for defining the testing and quality assurance activities for the payments being delivered by Social Security Scotland.

The contract will run for at least two years, supporting the introduction of new benefits.

The 200-person strong firm specialises in helping organisations to deliver complex digital projects, including major software rollouts and upgrades.

Current clients include the Home Office, the Department of Health & Social Care, abrdn and Virgin Money.

2i's annual turnover is currently more than £13m, with an aim of hitting £20m in the next financial year. It also has offices in Glasgow and London.

In 2018, 2i won its first contract with Social Security Scotland, helping to ensure testing and quality assurance of payments.

Dave Kelly, managing director at 2i, said: “It’s also our aim to leave a lasting legacy that Social Security Scotland can build upon for the future.

“We are thrilled to be chosen to continue our work with Social Security Scotland and help it to create a modern benefits system that embodies dignity, fairness and respect for citizens.

“These benefits are being introduced to help and support the most vulnerable in our society and delivering them with comprehensive risk and assurance processes is vital.”
