Scottish Secretary David Mundell tours around Tunnock's factory in Uddingston

The Scottish Secretary likes to get his teeth into his work – especially if that means a giant caramel wafer.

David Mundell was given a tour of the Tunnock’s factory in Uddingston last week and couldn’t resist posing for the cameras.

He was shown around by confectionery king Boyd Tunnock, who was recently awarded a knighthood for his services to charity and business.

Mr Tunnock said it was the highlight of his career to be named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, which was revealed last month.

The 86-year-old has been working for his family business since he was 15, and was the mastermind behind the famous Tunnock’s Teacake.

Scottish Secretary David Mundell said: “I was very pleased to be able to pop into Tunnock’s in Uddingston, to congratulate the newly-knighted Sir Boyd Tunnock. While I was there he kindly gave me a guided tour of their fascinating factory.”
