Adam, who died in March last year at the age of 60 - played for the Blacks’ first XV from 1982 to 1992, being captain between 1987 and 1989.

He then moved into coaching, becoming head coach from 1992 to 2005 with the side winning promotion three times. In 2005, he was named National League Coach of the Year.

Adam, from Ingleston Farm near Borgue, was Scottish Rugby’s performance development manager for Glasgow South from 2006 until 2010. From 2011 to 2013 he was on Scittish Rugby’s referee selection panel before being appointed to the referees’ advisory panel in 2014.

In 2015 he was elected to the SRU council to represent Glasgow South and he was elected to the SRU board three years later.
