Hearts retained top place in the Scottish Premiership after two early goals in Dingwall ensured a 2-1 victory over Ross County.
Osman Sow opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a low drive from outside the box and Alim Öztürk doubled the lead four minutes later with a close-range finish. Liam Boyce scored from the penalty spot seven minutes before the interval and both sides had second-half opportunities.
Ash Taylor scored the winner as Aberdeen beat Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park. The Dons had chances either side of Marvin Johnson’s finish for Motherwell, who were looking comfortable by the time Niall McGinn’s low cross ended up curling in off the far post in the 25th minute.
The home side also had a good spell of pressure on the visitors’ goal before Taylor headed a 62nd-minute winner into an empty net after pushing defender Louis Laing into goalkeeper Connor Ripley.
Dundee returned to winning ways after last week’s defeat to Hearts as they defeated St Johnstone 2-1 in a hard-fought Tayside derby at Dens Park. Paul Hartley’s side won courtesy of goals from James McPake and Kane Hemmings in the first half. Steven MacLean strike early in the second half proved to be a mere consolation.
Dundee could have been out of sight by the break with the amount of chances they created, but in the end they needed to stand firm against Tommy Wright’s men, who were left still searching for their first win of the new season. Kris Boyd scored a late equaliser to earn Kilmarnock their second point of the season as they rescued a 2-2 draw with Partick at Firhill. Partick twice took the advantage in the match, with Kris Doolan scoring both goals, but could not hold on to win. Rory McKenzie struck the first equaliser before veteran striker Boyd headed the 85th-minute goal that restored parity for Kilmarnock. They had had a man advantage for the previous 20 minutes after Liam Lindsay was sent-off. Thistle had gained an early lead in the match, breaking through after seven minutes when Doolan skilfully cut in from the right and evaded a poor attempt at blocking him from Lee Ashcroft before calmly slotting the ball passed Jamie McDonald.
Carlton Morris marked his full debut for Hamilton with a goal in a convincing 4-0 win over Dundee United.
Ali Crawford, Lucas Tagliapietra and Christian Nadé were also on target at New Douglas Park.
