Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro drop big Glastonbury Festival headliner hint

It’s , but one huge rock band have thrown their hat into the ring to headline the 2020 Glastonbury Festival.

Scottish trio Biffy Clyro have revealed they are ‘ready’ to take on the challenge of one of the three top spots at Worthy Farm next June, dropping hints that it could well be them - if they get their way.

The band that produced such classics as Many of Horror were speaking to BANG Showbiz at London’s Roundhouse this week, and said they would jump at the chance.

The trio have played Glastonbury Festival before, but never in the headline slot.

Bassist James Johnston, who makes up the rhythm section with his brother Ben, behind lead guitarist and vocalist Simon Neil, said they were waiting for the call.

“My phone is not on silent!” he said. “We're ready for the call should it come!”

“Obviously Glastonbury is an institution that you can't say too much about, we've had many great appearances there over the years, we're waiting for that call, we're ready, we're ready,” he added.

Next summer’s headliners have not yet been revealed - Diana Ross in the Sunday legends slot leads the list of names already confirmed - but it is thought that Michael and Emily Eavis will already have signed up the three headliners by now, so unless Biffy Clyro are throwing a bit of a smokescreen out there, it seems unlikely they will be headliners next year - much as they’d like to be.
