Scottish Premiership oldest squad revealed and the clubs giving most minutes to youngsters

Kilmarnock have the oldest average squad in the Scottish Premiership - closely followed by champions Rangers.

Data analysts at the CIES Football Observatory have crunched the numbers to calculate the mean age of players that have featured in the 33 top-flight fixture rounds so far.

And Kilmarnock have fielded the most senior sides over the course of the campaign, coming in at an average 28.3 years.

Steven Gerrard's side have leaned heavily on veterans Steven Davis and Allan McGregor this season, with the latter now almost 40 and that's contributed to their average age sitting at 28.1.

When it came to the percentage of minutes of players under the age of 21 who had featured, Rangers had the third lowest number at 1.9.

The report suggests young players are least likely to get a chance of first team football at Motherwell – with only 0.4 per cent of minutes on the pitch this season taken up by those aged 21 and under.

Celtic had the fifth highest percentage on 6.2 - and the second-youngest squad - but by far the best were Ross County (10.8 per cent) and Hamilton (12.9 per cent)

Below are the Premiership sides sorted by average age and percentage of U-21 players utilised.
