The Scottish Premiership fixtures for the 2019/20 season have been released and naturally, the first fixtures Hearts and Hibs fans will look for are the Edinburgh derbies.
Last season Hearts and Hibs didn’t meet each othe runtil the end of October on Hallowe’en – the last game of the first round of Premiership ties.
There’s no such wait this season. The pair will first meet at Easter Road on Saturday 21 September.
The highlight though is sure to be the festive fixtures. Craig Levein will welcome Paul Heckingbottom and his team to Tynecastle on Boxing Day, which falls on a Thursday this year.
The trend for scheduling this fixture on weekday evenings thankfully seems to be less regular, although the final pre-split meeting of the sides will take place on Wednesday 4 March at Easter Road.
Should both sides finish in the top or bottom six of the Scottish Premiership table, the final derby of the campaign will take place at Tynecastle.
As for their respective starts to the season, the Jambos begin with a trip to Pittodrie, with their first home game coming a week later against newly-promoted Ross County.
The Hibees kick off the campaign at home to St Mirren, before travelling to Ibrox to face Rangers a week later.
Hearts end the pre-split fixtures as they started them away to Aberdeen, while Hibs host Celtic at Easter Road before the final five games.
