Scotland's Premiership clubs are considering reverting back to five substitutes as the fear of Covid problems continues to rise.
The nation's top flight changed from three subs to five last season when games were played behind closed doors due to Covid.
But when the gates opened for fans again and football reverted back to some sort of normality this term, three substitutes were brought back into play.
Premiership football is in cold storage at the moment after the winter break was brought forward due to rising Covid infections across Scotland.
Now there are concerns that it could be postponements aplenty when the league returns later this month, similar to the chaos Covid has caused in England.
Motherwell are one of the teams who would be impacted by the change and the Steelmen return to action on January 18th away to Ross County.
SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster has now opened talks with all 12 clubs, according to the Daily Record, over the 'possible re-introducing of an increased number of subs.'
Clubs have been asked to respond no later than next Monday, a week before Celtic take on Hibs. Currently, attendances at matches across Scotland is limited to 500.
