Scottish picnic spot less than an hour from Glasgow named 'best in UK'

A Scottish picnic spot has been named as one of the best in the UK with a second Scots destination also listed - and one of them is less than an hour's drive from Glasgow.

With the hot weather well and truly underway, it would be silly not to take advantage and soak up the sun with a picnic blanket and snacks in tow.

The timing of the glorious sunshine comes ahead of National Picnic Week. This runs from June 17 until the 25th of the month - and recipe-box delivery company HelloFresh have revealed the UK’s top 20 best picnic locations to help plan your next outing.

Using the average maximum temperatures, TikTok views and online searches, the research shows that The Helix in Falkirk was named as one of the 'must go to' spots in the UK for your next picnic.

Using the average maximum temperatures, TikTok views and online searches the research shows that The Isle of Skye's Fairy Pools and The Helix in Falkirk were both listed as the place to be.

The Helix Park, home to the Kelpies - the largest equine sculptures in the world - is located between Falkirk and Grangemouth and open from 9:30am until 4pm each day, you can head down for some lunch whilst soaking up the sun either alone or with friends and family.

According to VisitScotland, it was "created as a space for the communities in the Falkirk area to come together. The Kelpies go a step further in bringing together not only from different parts of Scotland and the UK, but from all over the world. The Kelpies have transformed the area into a five-star tourist destination."

The Isle of Skye's Fairy Pools were also listed with the beautiful crystal clear blue pools on the River Brittle boasting some stunning views.

These famous pools entice visitors from all over the world and whilst they are great for ‘Wild Swimming’, they are equally as good to stare at and snap away to show Instagram later.
