Scottish music legends Simple Minds announce massive show to help Ukraine

Scottish rockers Simple Minds are to play a massive outdoor show this summer with all profits going to help Ukrainians affected by the ongoing conflict with Russia.

The band, who hail from Toryglen, were already booked to play at Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh on August 12 this year.

Now they have announced an additional show the following night, where they will play the whole of their much-loved New Gold Dream album as well as some of their well-known hits.

All profits will go towards UNICEF for children in Ukraine.

In a statement the group said: ""We can think of no better way to bring our upcoming UK/European Tour to a climax than performing not one - but now two shows at Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh.

"Maximising on that rare opportunity, we aim to make the additional show even more special for our fans by playing in full a one-off performance on Saturday August 13 of our career landmark New Gold Dream (81,82, 83, 84) plus our greatest hits.

"All profits from that show will go to UNICEF - FOR CHILDREN IN UKRAINE."

Tickets for the special show will go onsale this Friday online.

Other acts lined up to play the summer series of shows include Simply Red, Travis, Michael Kiwanuka and Tom Jones.
