Scottish mums are the best at giving relationship advice

While all mothers are great there are really none quite like Scottish mums.

And while there are times we could have done with a bit more peace and quiet - we wouldn't trade them, or their advice, for the world.

It'll come as no surprise then, that a survey has revealed Scotland's mums as the best at giving relationship advice.

And ‘Don’t go to sleep on an argument’ is the most common piece of advice they dish out, according to retirement property developer McCarthy & Stone who conducted the survey.

Interestingly, that mantra is not so popular elsewhere in the UK.

In the Midlands the most popular motherly advice was ‘The early bird catches the worm’.

While in London, mums’ advice was mainly nutritional in nature with ‘Eat your carrots, they will make you see in the dark’ and ‘Always eat your greens’ receiving the most votes.

Because 'don't go to bed on an argument' was the top piece of relationship advice flagged in the survey (coming in at third in the overall top 10 list), Scottish mums have shown themselves the best at helping their offspring deal with relationship troubles.

To create the top 10 list, ‘researchers put together a list of well-known mum advice statements and then asked the public to vote on their favourite.

So there you have it - if you are Scottish you have a chart topping, award winning mum who is great at dishing out relationship advice. As if you didn't know what already.

Make sure you give her the love, attention and occasional roasting she truly deserves this Mother's Day.
