Scottish man's clip of him swimming in UK's deepest water gives fan 'anxiety'

We all have a list of things we want to check off our to do list during the summer with many people having an even bigger 'bucket list' of what they want to accomplish in their life time.

But now one man has perhaps added an extra activity on everyone's list after uploading a video that has since gone viral with nearly 16 million views and three million likes despite having just been uploaded four day ago.

Taking to TikTok, Callum Maclean - also known as @caldamac on the video app - has shown him swimming in the deepest water in Britain.

Videoing himself floating in the water, he said: "Are you afraid of deep water? Right now, below me, is 310 metres of cold, dark water.

"This is Loch Mòrar in the highlands of Scotland. The deepest loch in the whole of Scotland, in fact, the deepest water in the whole of the UK until you go as far out to sea as almost at St Kilda.

"But this is fresh water so how come is it so deep? Well Loch Mòrar like its twins in the north Loch Hourn and Loch Nevis is a big long finger of a Loch reaching far inland almost like a fjord.

"But Loch Hourn and Loch Nevis are both seawater. Well Loch Mòrar could have been seawater. This huge loch was gouged out by glaciers but a thing called isostatic rebound happened way down there where the rocks effectively rose back up cutting Loch Mòrar off from the sea and creating one of the shortest rivers in the country too.

"But that's not all. Because if deep, dark, cold water is not enough to scare you, there's also said to be a creature inhabiting the waters, Morag of Mòrar."

Speaking in Scottish Gaelic and joking about calling the creature he continued, "A Mhòrag if you were to call her. A Mhòrag. A Mhòrag. She's not around today."

After showing off his history skills, he then showed his followers what the waters under his feet looked like - and safe to say we understand why anyone would be scared.

Taking to the comments people were clearly fascinated by it and its history with an American writing that it was giving them "anxiety while sitting on my couch in Colorado."

In response to the post one said:"It's all fun and games until something tickles your feet."

Another joked: "Bro giving a lecture while fighting for his life."

"Just pointing out that he's narrating, holding a camera and treading water one handed at the same time. Which is really hard." said a third.
