Scottish man planned to turn ambulance into luxury campervan but his wife freaked out

A Midlothian man put an old ambulance up for sale after his plans to convert the vehicle into a campervan "freaked out" his wife.

Wullie Paul listed the decommissioned emergency services vehicle – a 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – on social media this week in the hope to find a buyer.

He says he recently purchased the ambulance and planned to convert it into a campervan or motorhome.

However due to a lack of motivation, and the fact it unsettled his wife due to her experience in ambulances, he's now looking to shift it for £6,500.

In his post, in which the ambulance is listed for sale in Dalkeith, he said: "It's still registered as an ambulance and its only owner has been the Scottish Ambulance Service in Edinburgh.

"I am selling it for less than it's owe me as it freaks my wife out. Due to her being a patient in ambulances on too many occasions. Plus I just can't get motivated.

"It has a night heater, a lightweight rear manual ramp (ideal for disability use) plus lots more.

"This is a great opportunity to build a 2013 campervan/ motorhome at a budget price.

"I have just had a new powerful battery fitted with a five year warranty."

He says the vehicle drives faultlessly and while it has clocked up 327,000 miles, it has been well-maintained.
