A 29-year-old man has been fined 800 pound ($1,120) by a Scottish court, after being convicted of posting a "grossly offensive" video, showing his dog, a pug, performing Nazi salutes.
A judge at Scotland's Airdrie Sheriff Court said the video released by Mark Meechan "contained menacing, anti-Semitic and racist material,” the German news agency reported.
Meechan was convicted last month despite his insistence that the video was a joke. His defense was supported by freedom of expression advocates, right-wing English activist Tommy Robinson and comedian Ricky Gervais.
However, Judge Derek O'Carroll said Mitchan's claim that the video was a joke "lacks credibility," noting that he repeated the expression "gas the Jews" more than 20 times, like he was giving an order.
