Today (May 5) people up and down the country will take to the polls to vote for their top choice in the Scottish local elections.
A total of 1,227 councillors are expected to be elected across the UK, according to the BBC, including those in Scotland's 32 council areas.
People have already been out voting with polls having opened at 7am this morning.
But don't worry if you've had an early start at work, or haven't had the chance yet, as polls stay open until 10pm.
At present, anyone who lives in Scotland and is registered to vote is eligible, so long you are 16 or over on the day of the election and have not been legally excluded from voting.
So if you've registered, how does it all work?
How does voting in this years local elections work?
Rather than voting for just one candidate by putting an X against their name, there will be a ballot paper listing who is in the running and you will be asked to number the candidates in the order of your choice by putting 1, 2, 3 and so on in the box next to each one.
This voting system is known as Single Transferable Vote (STV) with councillors elected through a mathematical process based on how they are ranked by voters.
When will the Scottish local election results come in?
You may see results come in for England over the course of the night however in Scotland the results are not expected until Friday evening with counting taking place the day after the votes are cast.
Counting is expected to start around 8:30 and 9am tomorrow (May 6).
This is similar to the method used during the Scottish Parliamentary Election which took place last year.
