Scottish law firm recruits new legal director from rival practice

Law firm Gillespie Macandrew has appointed Karen Wooton to lead its private client and tax work in Glasgow.

She joins from rival Blackadders where she was an associate in the private client team.

Wooton has 18 years’ experience in the field and joins Gillespie Macandrew hot on the heels of its acquisition of Clyde & Co’s private client team last month and the transfer of Dentons' housebuilder team to the Glasgow office earlier in the year.

Chief executive Robert Graham-Campbell said Wooton’s experience in the private client market “strengthens our practice across the entire business, and especially in Glasgow where we are committed to developing our services and building our client base”.

Wooton said: “This is an exciting opportunity to increase Gillespie Macandrew’s presence in Glasgow and build on its excellent reputation. The private client & tax team is one of the strongest in Scotland and I’m looking forward to reinforcing this offering on the west coast.”

Gillespie Macandrew moved to larger Glasgow premises in February this year.

It also has offices in Glasgow and Perth.
