SCOTTISH Labour have won the Barrhead, Liboside and Uplawmoor by-election in East Renfrewshire.
The party's candidate Julie Ann McHale has retained the seat for Scottish Labour, securing 41.9% of first preference votes.
The SNP came in second with 25.1% of first preference votes, while Reform UK came third with 22.2%.
In a post on social media, Scottish Labour said: "Huge congratulations to Julie Ann McHale on winning the Barrhead, Liboside & Uplawmoor by-election!
"A fantastic result that shows people across Scotland are ready for a new direction – and Scottish Labour is leading the way."
And Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said: "Delighted to see Julie Ann McHale elected in Barrhead, Liboside & Uplawmoor.
"This victory is a clear sign that communities across Scotland are fed up with the SNP and turning to Scottish Labour for the new direction our country needs."

Polls opened for the by-election on Thursday, with the count taking place from 10am on Friday.
McHale was elected in the sixth round of voting.
The turnout was 29.9%, with 4585 votes cast out of the total electorate of 15,311. A total of 43 ballot papers were rejected.
The by-election was called following the death of Betty Cunningham, a long-serving Scottish Labour councillor.
Barrhead, Liboside and Uplawmoor by-election results:
- Scottish Labour: Julie Ann Costello McHale, 1901 votes (41.9%)
- SNP: David McDonald, 1142 votes (25.1%)
- Reform UK: Andy MacGibbon, 1018 votes (22.4%)
- Scottish Greens: Karen Sharkey, 247 votes (5.4%)
- Scottish Conservatives: Farooq Choudhry, 207 votes (4.6%)
- Abolish Holyrood - Abolish Scottish Parliament Party: Gus Ferguson, 27 votes (0.6%)
