A SCOTTISH Labour minister has left the government for health reasons after just over two weeks in post.
Margaret Curran, who was ennobled in January and appointed to serve in Ed Miliband’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero on May 22, left the UK Government on Friday, Downing Street said.
A UK Government spokesperson said: "We thank Baroness Curran for her work at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, delivering our clean energy mission.
"Baroness Curran has resigned due to health reasons. We send her our best wishes at this time and ask for her privacy to be respected."
The baroness served as minister for parliamentary business twice during Scottish Labour’s reign in Holyrood before she stood down as an MSP in 2011.
She was elected to Westminster in 2010, regaining Glasgow East for Labour from the SNP before losing to Natalie McGarry at the subsequent General Election.
Her son Chris Murray is the current MP for Edinburgh East and Musselburgh.
