Scottish kids who survived Ariana Grande concert bombing raise £15k for charity

Two Scots survivors of the Ariana Grande concert bombing have raised a staggering amount of money for a mental health charity.

Jago Stevens and Carmen Pritchard, both 12, escaped uninjured from the blast.

While they didn’t need help from child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), the support they got from family, friends and school made them think about others without such a great support network.

Jago, from Banchory, Aberdeenshire, said: “I was at Ariana Grande with Carmen was for our 10th birthdays. We are best friends. We were born in the same hospital on the same day.

“We were just walking out talking about how good she was when we heard this bang. Everyone started screaming and running so we started to run so we wouldn’t get trampled.

“There was smoke and ashes were coming down from the back of us.

“I was a bit confused and shocked I didn’t realise it was so close.

Carmen was crying but I was just in too much of a shock to cry.”

Jago and Carmen enlisted the help of friends to help raise funds.

They kicked it off on the second anniversary of the bombing in May with a plan to raise £10,000 and pledged to dye their hair blue if they succeeded.

The youngsters smashed through their target and have now raised more than £15,000 in seven months.
