Scottish Junior Cup: Irvine Vics and Pollok to consider options as clubs react to expulsion

Irvine Vics and Pollok are considering their options following their expulsion from this year's Scottish Junior Cup.

Ayrshire Live exclusively revealed last night how both clubs have been thrown out of the competition following an investigation into a brawl that led to their second round clash being abandoned.

Pollok have since released a statement saying they are 'disappointed with this decision' and insist they will 'consider the options that might be available to us'.

Irvine Vics have yet to comment on the punishment but Ayrshire Football News understands they are taking a similar approach.

Both clubs will have the right to an appeals process.

Football chiefs launched an investigation after violent scenes broke out in stoppage time during the September 25 encounter at Victoria Park in Irvine.

Footage emerged of a melee involving numerous players and coaching staff which led to the referee abandoning the game with Pollok winning 2-1.

Both clubs were hauled in front of the SJFA's disciplinary committee on Tuesday night to explain their role in the on-field fiasco.

And SJFA chiefs delivered the devastating ruling that neither team will play any further part in the competition, with both clubs also fined £500.

A statement posted on Pollok's website last night read: "The club can confirm that following the SJFA management committee meeting at Hampden on the evening of Tuesday, October 5, 2021, we have been informed of their decision earlier today that we have been expelled from this season’s Scottish Junior Cup and fined £500.

"We are disappointed with this decision, and we are considering the options that might be available to us. "
