Scottish Junior Cup: Glenafton boss says Loch Park surface could be key to winning fourth round replay

Glenafton boss Craig McEwan reckons the large playing surface at Loch Park could hold the key to his side reaching the last 16 of the Scottish Junior Cup.

Glens have home advantage for tomorrow's fourth round replay against Irvine Meadow after the sides played out a drab goalless draw  last weekend.

And McEwan reckons the larger pitch dimensions of Loch Park can help his side get the better of Brian McGinty's men.

He said: "I'm quietly confident that on our big park we might get more space in behind to get at them.

"We’ve got so many more gears to still go through in my opinion."

McEwan reckons his side - who won the competition in 2017 - had the edge over Meadow last week but acknowledges they will be a tough nut to crack.

"I think over the piece we probably just shaded it, he said.

"They set their stall out to frustrate us and I think for the most part they did.

"We didn’t look in any danger at all of conceding other than of our doing or a mistake."

"We know what Meadow are like. Brian McGinty has them well organised and he's meticulous to detail.

"His players are well drilled and they know their jobs well. It'll be tough."
