Scottish independence supporters turn out at Cycling World Championship event

SCOTTISH independence supporters answered a call to fly their Saltire flags for the Cycling Road Race World Championships on Sunday.

The campaigning organisation Believe in Scotland, asked supporters to head to the King’s Theatre on August 6 with Saltire flags.

The group hoped it would be a great opportunity to show support for independence given the event was broadcast to possibly millions worldwide.

Founder of the group Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp posted a video of the flags waving whilst cyclist raced by and said: "Great to have a few beers and wave the flags with a few dozen of our #BelieveInScotland family members at the #uciworldchampionship #GlasgowScotland2023 - good chat about today's Route to Indy Statement."

Some Yes activists commented on the video pointing out the lack of Saltires seen during the broadcast of the race and are understood to be discussing better positions for the elite women's race on Sunday which will do six laps in Glasgow.
