A bighearted Scottish hairdresser has offered free haircuts and pampering to hospitality workers facing financial ruin during the pandemic.
Salon owner John Campbell wanted to help people in the pub and restaurant sector who have been hit by recent restrictions.
He witnessed the devastating effect of the pandemic on furloughed staff’s mental health and the wider community and wanted to help out.
John posted an offer on social media offering free haircuts with every colour for hospitality workers.
As well as this the worker will receive complimentary treatments - worth around £50.
John Campbell, owner of Hair Design Airdrie, said: “My team and I have decided to do our best to help those people working in hospitality who have been effected by recent restrictions.
“As a business ravaged by the effect of lockdown we know only too well the devastating effect this can have on furloughed staff’s mental health and the effect on the wider community.
“We posted an offer on social media offering free haircuts with every colour for hospitality workers. As well as this the worker will receive complimentary treatments. This will be worth around £50 in total.
“I am hoping other local businesses follow suit and help generate a bit of community resilience. I feel we could really get a movement going.
"Incredibly we now have nurses, customers and members of the community trying to contribute financially to this cause.
“Something incredible is happening.”
