Scottish Grand National rescheduled to avoid clash with Prince Phillip's funeral

The Scottish Grand National has been rescheduled to avoid a clash with Prince Phillip's funeral.

The showpiece event in Ayr was due to take place on Saturday, April 17 but the decision's been taken to push it back 24 hours to Sunday, April 18.

No racing will take place at all in the UK between 2.45pm and 4.15pm as the Duke of Edinburgh is laid to rest.

The race was set to commence at 3.35pm but will now get under way at the same time the following day.

It's the latest sporting event to be rearranged in light of the funeral schedule.

The English Football League have already announced next Saturday's 3pm fixtures will be rescheduled, while the SFA have opened dialogue with key stakeholders over the upcoming Scottish Cup clash between Celtic and Rangers.

The Glasgow rivals are poised to square off at 4pm at Ibrox next week but now seems likely to be moved.

There's been no decision as yet over a new time and date for the match.
