The big meeting was postponed for a year by Covid and then another 24 hours after the funeral of Prince Philip.
It started with a bang on Sunday as Ayr with a thriller in the 1.15 Scotty Brand Handicap Steeple Chase.
The 1.50 CPMS Novices’ Champion Handicap Steeple Chase was another close contest with Scots jockey Ryan Mania in action.
Then came the 2.25 Scottish Champion Hurdle followed by the 3.00 Jordan Electrics Ltd Future Champion Novices' Chase.
But those felt like warm-ups for the main event at 3.35.
