Scottish Government says over 660 now tested positive for coronavirus in Lanarkshire

The Scottish Government today said that 662 people have now tested positive for coronavirus in Lanarkshire.

It comes as 495 patients across Scotland who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

Today’s figures also show that 287 people across Lanarkshire were in hospital at midnight, with confirmed or suspected coronavirus.

And 27 people in Lanarkshire were in intensive care at midnight, with confirmed or suspected coronavirus.

The Scottish test numbers for April 10 show a total of 28,652 people have been tested across the country.

Of these:

■ 23,377 tests were confirmed negative

■ 5275 tests were positive

■ 495 patients who tested positive have died

■ 207 patients were in intensive care last night, with 197 of those having tested positive

■ There were 1832 people in Scottish hospitals with either confirmed or suspected COVID-19 (including those in intensive care).

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “Coronavirus is the biggest challenge of our lifetime and  measures we take to tackle it must reflect the magnitude of that.

“These measures are essential to slow down the spread of this virus. They are essential to reduce the peak impact of it.”
