The Scottish Government has confirmed there was one coronavirus death reported in Tayside in the last 24 hours.
Data from Public Health Scotland also shows that 349 new cases were recorded overnight across the region.
The region’s death toll - composed of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - is now 726
In total, Tayside has recorded 47,756 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
The latest local vaccination data shows that 329,183 people in Tayside have received their first dose, 299,313 have had their second and 105,325 their booster, or third, dose.
Across the whole of Scotland there were also 19 further Covid-confirmed deaths in the last 24 hours.
The latest figures for Scotland showed that 3,852 new cases had also been identified overnight.
It means the national death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – now stands at 9,332.
There are currently 778 people in Scotland’s hospitals confirmed to have the virus with 61 being treated in intensive care.
The figures come as John Swinney warned Scots may have to show Covid vaccine passports in pubs and restaurants.
It is due to to “concerningly high” infection rates, the Deputy First Minister said, and fears the deadly virus could spread “very quickly” over Christmas.
The coronavirus certification scheme requires people going to nightclubs and to other large-scale events – such as concerts and some football matches – to be able to prove they have received two doses of vaccine.
Now it could be expanded to include smaller venues.
