The Scottish Government has confirmed ONE new coronavirus death and 177 new Omicron cases have been reported in Tayside in the last 24 hours.
Data from Public Health Scotland also shows a total of 423 new cases were recorded overnight in the region.
The area's death toll - composed of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - rises to 770.
In total, Tayside has recorded 57,482 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
There were 177 new Omicron cases reported overnight, taking the regional total of the variant to 248.
The latest local vaccination data shows that 332,386 of the over-12 population have received at least one coronavirus vaccination, and 305,094 have received at least two.
While 225,970 have also received a third vaccination amid a national effort to "booster" as many people as possible before New Year.
Across the country, 7,076 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the last day - a total of 831,158 since the pandemic began.
There were 10 further Covid-confirmed deaths recorded, meaning the country's overall death toll from the virus rises to 9,822.

The latest figures come as a woman has become the first covid patient in Tayside to receive a groundbreaking treatment.
The ‘monoclonal antibodies intravenous infusion’ provides an additional layer of support to eligible patients who are considered high risk due to underlying health conditions.
Penny Hepburn, 53, who has been struck down twice by covid, said she was ‘honoured’ to get the new infusion drip.
Penny, from Kinross, who has Crohn’s Disease/Colitis and is immunosuppressed received the treatment at Ninewells Hospital.
She said: “I am extremely honoured to be the first person in Tayside to receive this and I am so delighted that it is in Ninewells. I said yes straight away, I wanted to get straight on it. “Anything that helps the recovery and can make you feel better is worthwhile."
