Scottish Government confirms no new deaths and 5,887 cases in last 24 hours

Scotland has recorded no new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to recent figures.

It means the death toll under this measurement, of people who tested positive for the virus in the previous 28 days, remains at 10,311.

Meanwhile there have been a further 5,887 cases recorded in the country in the same time period.

There were 1,206 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19, with 33 in intensive care.

So far 4,411,649 people have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination, while 4,127,051 have received their second dose, and 3,295,501 have received a third dose or booster.

It comes as Boris Johnson gets set to appear in front of MPs this afternoon to be grilled on the findings of the Sue Gray report.

Downing Street confirmed on Monday morning that the report had been received and will be published shortly on the gov.uk website and in the House of Commons library for MPs.

The exact time of the Prime Minister's appearance will be negotiated with the Commons Speaker but Ministerial statements usually begin in the chamber about 3.30pm.

The report has been controversially redacted after Met Police requested that details of events they are investigating in parallel should not be published.
