Scottish Government confirms no deaths from coronavirus in Dundee overnight

The Scottish Government has confirmed there were no coronavirus deaths reported in Dundee in the last 24 hours.

Data from Public Health Scotland also shows that 85 new cases were recorded overnight in the city.

The city's death toll - composed of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - remains at 295.

In total, Dundee has recorded 21,208 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

The latest local vaccination data shows that 85.8% of the over-16 population have received at least one coronavirus vaccination, and 79% have received at least two.

Around 49.9% of city children aged 12 to 15 have also received at least one Covid jab.

Meanwhile, a total of 24 people have died from coronavirus across Scotland in the last 24 hours.

The latest figures for Scotland showed that 2,732 new cases had also been identified overnight.

The daily death toll of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days now stands at 9,143 since March 2020.

There are currently 926 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 60 being treated in intensive care.

To date 4,314,144 people have received their first vaccination with 3,903,299 having a second jab.

It follows news that travellers returning from red list countries will no longer have to quarantine in hotels after the Scottish Government scrapped the list.

Passengers arriving from Colombia, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Venezuela and Ecuador will soon no longer have to quarantine in a hotel at their cost for 10 full days.

The decision will take effect from 4am on November 1 and applies across each of the four UK nations.

Red list countries are those the government said should not be visited "except in the most extreme of circumstances".
