Scottish Government announces no new covid deaths as 3,894 new cases reported overnight

There have been no recorded deaths from coronavirus in Scotland overnight as 3,894 new positive cases were reported.

The Scottish Government announced the latest figures on Monday, December 6, as concern around the new Omicron variant continues to grow.

A total of 591 people are currently in hospital receiving treatment with 43 requiring intensive care support.

4,354,064 people have received their first dose of the Covid-19 with 3,960,681 now being double jabbed.

1,889,285 people are also now reported to have received their booster or third dose.

Meanwhile, Scots are being urged to take a coronavirus test every time they are heading out to socialise over the Christmas period.

Deputy First Minister John Swinney has said that regular lateral flow testing for the deadly bug would help stop the spread across the country.

From today proof of a negative test will enable entry into venues and events subject to the vaccination passport scheme.
