Scottish Government announces no new coronavirus deaths and 775 new cases in last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has announced no coronavirus deaths and 775 new cases in Scotland overnight.

The latest figures were released on Sunday after restrictions eased across parts of the country this weekend, with many areas dropping down to Level 1.

A total of 116 people were being treated in hospital yesterday with eight receiving intensive care treatment.

Of the 20,675 new tests for Covid-19 reported results, 4.0% were positive.

The latest figures bring the total number of confirmed cases to 239,668 since the start of the global outbreak last year.

To date 7,676 people have sadly lost their lives to the virus.

Meanwhile, 3,365,779 people have now received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine with 2,227,493 having had second jags.

It comes after Scotland recorded its second-highest number of daily coronavirus infections since February on Saturday, with 860 new cases.

From midnight on Friday, parts of Scotland moved down a level of lockdown while several council areas in the central belt remained at Level 2.

The city of Glasgow was finally moved from Level 3 restrictions.

The latest changes to Scotland's tier system mean that more rules around everyday life have eased, bringing people one step closer to normality.

Under Level 1, 2 and 0 restrictions, more people can meet indoors, go to the pub and attend a wedding.
