Scottish Government announces no deaths and 464 covid cases in last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has reported no covid deaths and 464 new cases in the last 24 hours..

It means the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – remains the same at 7,666.

There are currently 83 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with four being treated in intensive care.

The total number of positive cases since the pandemic hit stands at 233,671.

To date 3,174,807 people have received their first vaccination with 1,942,285 having a second jab.

The figures come as it was revealed that one in every 10 care home residents died of Covid in the first year of the pandemic.

Care Inspectorate figures showed 3774 lost their lives to the virus up to March 31, 2021.

This is 14.7 per cent higher than the National Records of Scotland total.
