Scottish Government announces no deaths and 394 covid cases in last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has reported no coronavirus deaths and 394 new cases in the last 24 hours.

It means the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – remains the same at 7,664.

There are currently 78 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with four being treated in intensive care.

The total number of positive cases since the pandemic hit stands at 230,436.

To date 3,051,383 people have received their first vaccination with 1,704,388 having a second jab.

The figures come as early studies from a number of Covid test events in England have shown “encouraging” results, it has been reported.

The UK Government gave the green light to a series of events with big crowds in attendance over the past month.

These included fans returning to the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield and FA Cup matches at Wembley Stadium.

Thousands of people were invited to each of the events with social distancing measures in place.
