The Scottish Government have confirmed 20,217 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily figure since the pandemic began.
Test positivity is currently at 34.9 per cent meaning more than one third of all tests taken returned positive results. A total of 65,860 new tests reported results, according to Monday's update.
There are currently 1,031 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 38 being treated in intensive care.
Public Health Scotland say there continues to be large volumes of tests being processed in labs, and this along with the holiday weekend has impacted turnaround times meaning delays in test results being processed and published.
Today's [Monday's] update represents the first since December 31.
On Wednesday, January 5, Public Health Scotland will publish full data for the previous four days.
4,383,212 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,017,051 their second dose and 2,992,583 have been given a third dose or booster.
It comes as Scots are being encouraged to 'just refresh' their internet webpage if they are unable to order lateral flow tests (LFTs).
People across the country are being told to take one before leaving their homes in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus.
However many are finding that tests are unavailable on the UK Government website.
UK Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi said that people struggling to get lateral flow tests "should just refresh" their webpage.
