Four people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the Scottish Government has confirmed.
The latest figures for Scotland showed that 281 new cases have also been identified overnight.
It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 7,626.
There are currently 168 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 20 being treated in intensive care.
The total number of positive cases since the pandemic hit stands at 221,431.
To date 2,643,524 people have received their first vaccination with 551,699 having a second jab.
The figures come as we told how a mum who caught Covid after her daughter contracted it at school begged families to stick to the rules for the sake of her vulnerable child and others.
Jenny Tait, from Johnstone, developed flu-like symptoms and ached all over after her daughter Amber, who has a learning disability and heart condition, was named as a close contact of a person with covid at Fordbank Primary School.
And, while the covid test was too distressing for Amber to take, positive results were returned for her two siblings Lucy, 12, and Emma, six.
