The Scottish Government has confirmed that 7 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
The latest figures for Scotland showed that 4336 new cases had also been identified overnight.
It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 9771.
There are currently 522 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 33 being treated in intensive care.
The figures come as fears grow over the Omicron variant in Scotland.
Nicola Sturgeon asked Scots to stay at home in bid to halt the spread of the virus earlier this week.
Nicola Sturgeon held an unscheduled coronavirus briefing today.
She said there were 696 cases of Omicron confirmed in Scotland by 5pm yesterday.
The new strain first originated in southern Africa but has since travelled across the globe.
Yesterday, the SNP leader issued a stark warning that Omicron would become the dominant strain in Scotland today with the R number believed to be at four.
She told MSPs at Holyrood: "Please reduce your contact with people from households other than your own as much as you possibly can.
"For now, please stay at home much more than you normally would.
"Right now, the risk of getting Covid from interactions with others is high and rising.
