A further 526 new positive cases of coronavirus have been identified in Scotland over the past 24 hours.
The number of people who have tested positive for Covid during the pandemic has now risen to 233,671, according to the latest Scottish Government figures.
No new deaths from the virus were recorded overnight, with the number of people dying 28 days after a positive test standing at 7,666.
The number of people that have been given their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine currently stands at 3,234,311. A total of 2,022,728 have now received their second dose.
A Scottish Government advisor on the pandemic has warned that Scotland faces going ’10 steps back’ if policymakers do not consider reopen the country cautiously.
Professor Devi Sridhar, of Edinburgh University, said that the so-called Indian variant is spreading quickly among those yet to receive the vaccination.
The mutant strain of the virus is believed to be driving a recent rise in case in Glasgow - which is the only area still in level three lockdown.
Deputy First Minister John Swinney said that he is ‘optimistic’ that the city will move down to level two at the end of next week.
