The news comes as a travel ban row between First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham deepens.
The First Minister announced restrictions to travel to Manchester and Salford for Scots last Friday which came into effect on Monday, June 21.
High numbers of cases of the Delta variant was the reason for the ban, the SNP leader said.
Sturgeon's decisions angered Burnham after he claimed he was not told about the ban prior to the announcement at a press conference.
A source close to Sturgeon told the Daily Telegraph that Burnham made an “incoherent and absurd” contribution to the meeting.
However, a spokesperson for the Mayor hit back by saying they were surprised the Scots government had briefed due to the confidential nature of the meeting.
It's believed Sturgeon accepted during the meeting that she should have told Burnham about the ban before the press conference.
The pair arranged a meeting, which took place yesterday, in a bid to resolve the situation however a slagging match has now erupted.
