The Scottish Government has confirmed that 28 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
The latest figures for Scotland showed that 2,997 new cases had also been identified overnight.
It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 8,579.
There are currently 1,020 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 71 being treated in intensive care.
The total number of positive cases since the pandemic started stands at 563,326.
To date 4,186,743 people have received their first vaccination with 3,835,013 having a second jab.
The figures come as Nicola Sturgeon was urged to ditch her plans to introduce coronavirus vaccine passports in Scotland.
The Scottish Conservatives will mount a last ditch attempt to force the Scottish Government to scrap its controversial plans.
The Tories will use their opposition debating time in Holyrood today to challenge the scheme, which is set to come into force on Friday.
However, the motion is unlikely to succeed, with the support of the Scottish Greens providing the Scottish Government with the necessary votes to see off the challenge.
