Meanwhile serial killer Peter Tobin is banned from having visitors while he battles cancer after his prison “beast wing” was hit with a Covid lockdown.
Sources said the murderer, who is defying medics’ expectations on his terminal illness, is confined to his cell at Saughton prison while his wing is closed to visitors.
It comes after prison chiefs confirmed 785 prisoners in the prison estate are self-isolating, with a number of those due to potential contact with a confirmed case.
There are 92 confirmed cases of Covid in nine prisons in Scotland.
