The Scottish Government has confirmed that 17 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
The latest figures for Scotland showed that 5,810 new cases had also been identified overnight.
It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 8,198.
There are currently 883 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 82 being treated in intensive care.
To date 4,130,841 people have received their first vaccination with 3,749,767 having a second jab.
The figures come as First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is due to give an update to the Scottish Parliament about the current state of the pandemic in the country.
Cases of the deadly virus have remained at a steady high throughout Scotland since most restrictions were lifted last month.
Last week, Ms Sturgeon announced plans for vaccine passports which means that Scots would have to show their vaccination status if they wanted to go to large-scale events, like football games or gigs.
Nightclubs would also have to bring in this new rule, which is due to be voted on this week.
The First Minister hopes that the proposal will help slow the spread of the virus as the country prepares for the winter months.
