Scottish Government announces 11 deaths and 1,381 covid cases in last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has confirmed that 11 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours,

The latest figures for Scotland showed that 1,381 new cases had also been identified overnight.

It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 7,976.

There are currently 381 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 55 being treated in intensive care.

The total number of positive cases since the pandemic started stands at 350,667

To date 4,018,503 people have received their first vaccination with 3,268,887 having a second jab.

The figures come as the UK's traffic light system for travel has been updated.

Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania, and Norway have all moved up from amber to green.

Meanwhile, Georgia, Mayotte, Mexico, and Réunion have moved in the opposite direction down to red.

However, India, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain have all moved up a level from red to amber.

Those arriving from France will no longer need to quarantine if they are fully vaccinated, according to the latest update.

However, although Spain remains on the amber list, travellers are being told to be cautions as a new variant originating in South America is now present in Spain.
