Scottish Government announces 10 deaths and 4323 covid cases in last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has confirmed 10 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The latest figures for Scotland also showed that 4323 new cases had also been identified overnight.

There are currently 364 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 43 being treated in intensive care.

To date 4,085,552 people have received their first vaccination with 3,587,145 having a second jab.

The figures come as Professor Jason Leitch has said him and other advisers are "concerned" by the recent rise in cases in Scotland.

At least 3,000 cases have been recorded every day for the past five days with a positivity rate of 12.4% on Monday.

It follows the country leaving the levels system earlier on Monday August 9 and enjoying a return closer to normality.

However, major changes are not expected to be made during the Nicola Sturgeon's Covid-19 briefing this afternoon.
