Scottish Government announce 3 new Covid deaths as cases rise by 3108 overnight

Three new coronavirus deaths have been reported in Scotland with X new positive cases overnight.

The Scottish Government announced the latest figures this afternoon as the virus continues to spread across the country.

306 people are currently in hospital with 25 requiring intensive care as they battle the bug.

A total of 292,387 Scots have now caught coronavirus since the start of the pandemic with 7729 deaths recorded.

3,844,371 people have now had their first dose of the vaccine while 2,749,373 have been doubled jabbed.

It comes after Nicola Sturgeon announced more than half of Scotland’s population is now fully vaccinated against coronavirus.

Speaking at the Scottish Government’s coronavirus Friday briefing, the First Minister said: “Today’s vaccine numbers actually take us across quite a significant milestone.

“More than 60 per cent of those eligible for the vaccine have now had both doses, but as of today, more than 50 per cent of the entire population is now fully vaccinated.

“That is an important milestone and one that will be increasing our levels of protection against this virus.”
