Scottish Government announce 175 new cases of coronavirus overnight as one new death confirmed

There have been 175 new covid cases recorded in the last 24 hours in Scotland.

The latest figures have been released by the Scottish Government.

They also reveal there was one new death from coronavirus recorded overnight.

The latest figures mean there have been a total number of 226,227 positive cases of the virus since the pandemic began.

2,811,343 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 1,263,862 have received their second dose

The figures come as hospitality venues across Scotland open for the first weekend since lockdown restrictions were eased.

And around 6,000 revellers descended on a warehouse in Liverpool for the first nightclub event in the UK for more than a year.

The First Dance event, which has been organised by Liverpool clubbing outfit Circus, was given the approval to go ahead by the UK Government as a test event.

Clubbers do not have to adhere to social distancing measures or mask wearing as part of the trial but they do have to test negative for Covid.
