Scottish Government announce 146 new cases of coronavirus in past 24 hours and no new deaths

146 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scotland in the last 24 hours.

The latest numbers have been published by the Scottish Government this afternoon.

They also reveal there were no deaths reported overnight, however, statistical reporting over the weekend can be lower.

The latest figures mean there have been a total number of 226,373 positive cases of the virus since the pandemic began.

2,817,752 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 1,297,664 have received their second dose

The latest figures come as Nicola Sturgeon pens an open letter thanking the people of Scotland for their sacrifices during a year of lockdown restrictions.

Writing one week before voters take to the polls in the Scottish Parliament elections, Sturgeon said: “Over the past year, I've done my best every day to steer Scotland through this difficult and heartbreaking time.

"I have asked a lot of you, and we've all asked a lot of each other, to keep the country as safe as possible. I can never thank you enough for the sacrifices you've made.”
