Scottish football's transfer window is now open

Lanarkshire clubs are amongst those who can officially make signings, after the Scottish FA had a request to open the transfer window approved by FIFA.

The 12-week window, which is the maximum allowed, runs from today (Tuesday, July 14) until midnight on Monday, October 5, allowing domestic and international movement of players.

FIFA has also confirmed that the first registration period for Scottish women's football will be from Wednesday, July 15 to Tuesday, October 6.

It has also been confirmed that match day one of the Betfred League Cup will be on Tuesday, October 6.

Loan principles have also been amended, with the existing October loan window for League 1 and 2 clubs also now covering the Championship.

The Joint Response Group says the need for the full transfer window was "to try to strike an appropriate balance and allow all clubs to prepare for the new season."
